After completing my doctorate in astrophysics at age 12, I pursued my lifelong dream of becoming a first-chair cellist with the New York Philharmonic where I spent three satisfying years helping less talented musicians attain their modest potential.  After that, I turned my attention to the neglected field of American literature and wrote my magnum opus "A Cold Sore is Forever," winning the Booker prize and the Pulitzer and outselling my nearest competition, J.K. Rowling, by about a billion copies.

LATE UPDATE:
On the advice of--well, everyone--I recently completed an inpatient program for "pathological exaggeration" at a world-renowned rehabilitation spa in LA.  It was a grueling, intense program (no exaggeration) that left me with no choice but to amend my original biographical entry.   Please see below:

New Bio:
After completing high school, I decided to pursue a course of unnecessary life challenges by getting married and having children prior to completing my education, abandoning the typical "four-year to BA" plan in favor of the "scrape and scrounge for 17 years, finally achieving your college degree in middle age" plan.

During this time, I had two wonderful, above-average (again, no exaggeration) children.  Despite their inherent wonderfulness, they both have special needs: My daughter has a genetic lung disease called PCD and my son is very smart--a disabling condition in our current culture.*

Because we spent an inordinate amount of time in doctor's offices and hospitals, I naturally gravitated toward the medical field for employment, eventually settling on clinical marketing for a respiratory equipment manufacturer. In this role, I honed my marketing (i.e. creative deception) skills--perhaps the fateful first step in my eventual path to unbridled exaggeration.

In 2002 I founded the PCD (Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia) Foundation for patient education, research and advocacy and currently work for the Foundation.

I live at home with my grown son and 32 pounds of cat--unequally distributed between two animals.

*They are both smart, but my son has an added deficit known as "ass."  His condition is medically referred to as a "smartass"  (syn. "wiseass") and is thought to be genetic.
